Photograph One:
This photograph was taken my Carl Mydans in 1936. This picture was taken in Eutaw, Alabama. In this photograph the children are standing outside of waht seems to be their home. It is day time so they are outside. They must live in a rural area based on their surroundings in the picture. There are four children in the photo, three young girls and one boy. The girls are wearing dresses and the boys has on a pair of overalls. None of the children have on a pair of shoes. The condition of their home is not well and looks very run down. The yard is fenced in by a picket fence. And the yard is all dirt. Two of the girls are smiling but the other two look rather serious. I would the photographer if the children were related to one another and what their situation might be during this time period. - Corinne G.
Photograph Two:
This photograph was taken by, Jack Delano in, 1941. The family in this photograph live in Greensboro, Alabama. The family is standing outside, and it is day time so it is light out. They seem to live on a farm so it is a rural area. There are eight people standing outside. Two of them are young children. The clothing they are wearing does look clean nor is it fancy. Most of the family is standing on their porch. Their house doesn't seem to be in the best condition. Surrounding the home is their yard and in the backround you can see their farm. The mood of the people in the photo seems so be low and relaxed. Some of the people in the photo are looking off in the distance like someone or something is coming or going. If I got the chance to ask the phtotographer anything i wanted to i would ask him, what the family did for a living and what they might've been looking at outside? -Corinne G.
Photograph Three:
This photograph was taken by John Collier in, 1913. These flight insructors are in Selma, Alabama. They are standing outside in what seems to be day time. There are two men who are wearing their flying uniforms. I believe they have parachutes backpacks on too. Rigth behind them is the wing to a air plane. The men are discussing something and smiling. Both are holding the corners to a map. I woudl like to ask the photographer where the men might've been flying to and what they had to do there? -Corinne G.
Picture One:
This is a corner apple stand. It shows how hard it was to make money durring the time of the great depression, the man had to resort to somthing as low as selling apples for 5 cents to make a living and survive. It was taken outside and during the day in a city around mid day i feel this picture has the sunshine for its light. In this picture there are two men and what looks like the back of a womani feel they are all in there late thirthys or early fourties. Both the men are wearing buisness suits and the woman is wearing a long trench coat. They are all white. I think the thing that catches my attention first is the stand because it shows me how had it is to survive. In this picture it is placed in the city and the business buildings look nice and are kept clean. This picture has a heavy tone because it is showing how hard it was for people to survive, i think it is a negative picture because the people in it look sad and i think this is a dark picture because it is set to look sad. -Tyler
Picture Two:
This picture is of a man sleeping on a bench. The setting is during the day, probaly in the summer because he isent wearing much except his like summer work outfit. The lighting is the normal sun. im guessing its in an urban area because you dont usualy see benches out in the rural areas. I think it was around 11 in the morning because that might be a time to take a nap for him and it looks like that by how the sun is shining. In this picture there is just a man sitting on a bench. I think he is in his 20's, and he is wearing a buisness suit. He is white, a distinguishing feature on him would have to be his face. And the man on the bench catches my eye first because the photo is focused on it. There are no structures in this picture. This photographs mood is sad and dark it is also negative because the man in it looks sad, and has to sleep on a bench. -Tyler
